In Memory

Vardon Tremain

Oct. 29 - Vardon's cousin Kathy Corbet has informed us that Vardon passed away suddenly from a stroke on Oct. 26th.  He had been feeling unwell and skipped coming to the 50th reunion, though he had planned to do so.  There will be a memorial in Marin for Vardon at a date to be announced later.  He will be missed by many Kent and Redwood friends!

We received the following obituary notice published in the Port Townsend paper:

Vardon Clarke Tremain, a distinctive fisherman will be remembered and
missed by the fleet off the coasts of Alaska, Washington, Oregon and
California where he trolled for salmon and albacore the last forty
years on fishing vessels Trade Wind, Banshee II and later Heidi.
Vardon’s curiosity, sense of adventure, passion for books and culture
led him to many interesting places.

Vardon was an avid researcher of his family genealogy. He contributed
volumes of material towards this mission of finding the history of his
great-grandfather, which eventually led to his securing an Irish
citizenship due to his family research and documentation.

Vardon Tremain, 68, was born June 15, 1944 in Marin County and
graduated from Redwood High School in Larkspur, Ca. He earned a BS in
Civil Engineering from University of California, Berkeley, California.
Varrdon also graduated from Golden Gate University School of Law; San
Francisco, California and was admitted to the State Bar of California
in 1978.

He was a resident of Port Townsend, Washington and San Rafael. Vardon
died from a stroke October 26, 2012 at Harborview Medical Center in
Seattle.

He was predeceased by his parents Walter and Marjorie Tremain.
Besides his his sister Varya Tremain, San Rafael, California, he is
survived by cousins; Marilynne Clyde, Kathleen Corbet, Dennis Tremain,
Karen Tremain, Arnelle Kase, Susan Tremain, and Vickie Levitch, all
living in California.

I always enjoyed Vardon's very special sense of humor.  We corresponded for several years while he was in Alaska and I in Denmark.  Now I know why the messages from him stopped.  Miss him.
