Sonia was a school mate, a neighbor, and a close friend, and she dated my brother.

She is missed.

Remember Sonia in her white boots twirling her baton? She was a big, beautiful girl leading the marching band before the band had uniforms (just jeans and white shirts). Early days at Redwood High.

I remember Sonia practicing in her back yard.

Sonia Sabo-Guerena passed away July 11, 2006 in Santa Rosa, CA. Born to Edward and Ana Sabo, February 15, 1945. Loving wife of Vicente Guerena of 37 years. Beloved mother of Yvette Marie Scherer. Adored "Mama" of Carter Johnson and Colby Vogtman. Loving sister of Sandra and Stephanie Sabo. Adored aunt of Tara Sabo. She also leaves behind her second family, "The Bunnies" Bunny, J.D., Lyndsay and Michael with whom so many memories were made and shared. Sonia made her home in Santa Cruz, CA for 30 years where she and her daughter were the co-owners of Fancy Fingers Nail Salon. Patrons of the salon actually looked forward to their next appointment for the social contact, laughter, tears and many secrets that were shared there. Many long-lasting friendships were formed. So loved to travel, especially visits to Napili, Hawaii and Los Cabos, Mexico. Family was first and foremost to So. She moved to Petaluma 3 years ago to be near her elderly father. Yvette followed right behind her. Yvette and So had the deepest, most loving, connected relationship — never to be separated. To know So is to bask in her sunshine! She loved and lived life to its fullest — made friends in minutes, filled up a room with her light and love. She always had an encouraging word, a smile to share and was such a giver. Her faith in God was so strong it was an inspiration. Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial service Monday, July 17, 2006 at 11AM
