Bill and I were the oldest of friends, going back to our move from San Francisco to Kentfield when we began second grade together. Although we have lived fairly close to one another in Humboldt County, we could never seem to find time to get together. In recent years we have made a point to call each other on our birthdays to celebrate the passing of another year and to catch up with one another. I shall miss those calls and the friendship behind them. Rest in peace, Bill.
Like Alan, I knew Bill from the second grade at A. E. Kent. Fond memories of sliding down dry grass slopes on old pieces of cardboard boxes. Dancing school, Scout camp. I called Bill and spoke to him late last year. We had a great time on the phone catching up. The Kentfield gang is nearly gone now, first Jamie Jenkins, then Fritz Mayer and now Bill. They will be missed. My deepest condolences to Helene and Bill's family.
