I have truly been blessed with my wonderful life.
I am still married to Nathan Jeffers, who has stuck with me through thick & thin for the last 22 years. My friends & family swear that he will be a saint in heaven one day. We were married in 1991.
I’m still a bulldawg!! I went back to Cruces High to do my student teaching in the Fall of 1990 & I’ve been there ever since. I’m a teacher in the Special Education Department & I love my job. A bunch of teachers are still there & Ms. Fields-Haines (math teacher from Lynn Jr. High) is my principal.
Before our last reunion, Nate & I had adopted our first son, Jesus. He was 15 back then, but now he’s a grown man at 25 years. Jesus has blessed our family with the most adorable granddaughter ever, Yulissa (3 years old). He is a single dad, with sole custody. So, Nate & I get to help out a lot as grammy & grandpa. Some of you guys are just now having your little ones & hell we’re already working on the second generation.
In 2002, Nate & I were able to bring home our younger three children who have been our pride & joy. When we adopted them, our whole world changed. With the addition of Jamie, Mariah, & Nathan (who goes by his middle name Joe), our family was complete. Jesus was older when we adopted them, but they definitely look up to their older brother. And they are the BEST Aunties & Uncle around, I guarantee you that. When we got the kids, I stopped spending every summer in Europe & I accepted my ABD (All But Dissertation) status on my doctoral program at NMSU in Curriculum & Instruction. My summers & extra time are spent just playing with my wonderful kids.
Nate finished his mechanical engineering degree from NMSU & is currently the Plant Engineer for REA Magnet Wire on the West Mesa. We still own our apartments, which keeps him busy too. He still is the avid hunter & recently gets to enjoy motocross once again since our son has started racing motorcycles.
When I’m not working at Cruces High, I spend my days chasing kids around & following them to all their activities. I am luckiest wife, mom & grandma!!!
