Victor Lauer was one of my best friends at Chaparral, so I'd like to share with you some details and kind words:
Victor Lauer, then 26 years old, passed away February 12, 2012 at his home in Las Vegas, from an allergic reaction. He is survived by his sister Chelsea Lauer Heaivilin, her husband Robert Heavilin, his father Robert "Bob" Lauer (now deceased) and his mother Ducette Lauer. He is also survived by high school friends Walter Kennedy of Boston, Peter Jurisich of New Orleans, and Jason Vaughn and John Koehler of Las Vegas.
Victor was born June 26, 1985, in Reno, Nevada. He joined us at Chaparral beginning with his freshman year in 1999, and graduated in 2003. He began working at the Albertson's grocery store on Desert Inn during his senior year, and worked there until 2005 when he accepted employment at the Stratosphere. He worked there first as a ride attendant and moved up to the reservations department in 2006, where he worked until the onset of the recession in 2008.
Victor was always a true and dependable friend, though he never took himself or anything too seriously, which was a refreshing quality for me most of the time--especially when I needed a break from work or from studying at UNLV. He never wanted to disappoint a friend, and was always there for me when I needed him. His family, too, treated me like I was part of their family, too, and I will always be grateful for his memory. God bless you, Victor Lauer!!
