Reunion date Posted Friday, July 31, 2009 04:37 PM
Who decided that the day after Thanksgiving was a good day for the 25 year reunion? Travel that week is the heaviest of the year and those of us who live out of town find this date/time extremely inconvenient especially for folks like myself, Olin, Glenn and others who live a considerable distance away. For the next one, it might be a better idea to have it during the summer months or early fall where the weather is much better and it would be much easier for many of us to attend. |

REPLY: I don't know who chose the date- I just repeated the info from Angela Meredino. |

RE: Reunion date Posted Saturday, August 1, 2009 12:30 PM I think you hit the nail on the head,,,,travel is heaviest because college kids come home from school, people go to visit relatives, etc. Although many classmates may have relocated they might also return to see relatives and friends at this time. The class reunion becomes part of the week-end as opposed to a 'stand alone' summer trip. This is what I was told before - so like Chris I'm just passing the word. Maybe we can treat those who moved south to some chilly weather and a few inches of snow, the least your hometown can do 4 ya.!

RE: Reunion date Posted Wednesday, August 5, 2009 08:22 AM Being 600 miles away, I agree with Phil, summer would have been a nice time to have a reunion. I suggested this to Angela at the time of the 20 yr reunion. Our kids here only have Wed, Thu, Fri off for Thanksgiving, so it really isn't ideal for travel....for us, Thanksgiving break is not a good PA trip...we end up only spending 3 days here, with two entire days spent traveling (it's a ten-hour drive IF we make good time, and flying at Thanksgiving time is completely out of the question). ....which is why I prefer coming up to PA in the summertime and on Christmas break (and of course a Christmas-time reunion wouldn't work for most). Anyway, I guess we are coming this time, though, so I can attend the reunion- I haven't been since the 5 year... ...and I do hope it snows, my youngest was born down here since we moved back to TN, so she never sees snow. At least the 2 oldest got to experience it while we lived in Greensburg for 8 years! Think you can arrange some snow, Scott? |

Scott, if one lives within driving distance of Latrobe then travel isn't that bad but if you've ever had to fly anywhere Thanksgiving week you know what I'm talking about. You do that once and never again. If you live thousands of miles away in California like myself, Glenn and Olin do then any travel back east is a special trip and doing that trip on some other week rather than Thanksgiving is an option that you prefer. I'm just hoping that will be taken into account next time. And as far as going to Latrobe goes, I think it would be great to make the reunion coincide with an event like Steelers training camp so that folks from out of town could give their families something else to see, like the Steelers !!! :-) |

RE: Reunion date Posted Thursday, August 20, 2009 09:38 AM Hi Phil - nice to see your name here... I DEFINITELY agree about the date of the reunion - I live in NC, and traveling that week stinks, plus many of us have holiday family commitments that don't permit a side trip to PA - it's just too chaotic a time to add a reunion to the mix. The thanksgiving weekend date has been done in the past, and it is a primary reason why I have never attended a reunion. Summer would be wonderful - I think my brother's class is doing it in the summer... |

RE: Reunion date Posted Thursday, August 20, 2009 04:36 PM Just so everyone knows- I asked Angela Perla Meredino for her email address for on the site so anyone can contact her about the reunion and she replied that she'd like everyone to just contact her thru Classmates.com. She prefers that page, but myself personally? I refuse to pay money to read or send a message on that site. Just my humble opinion....lol |

RE: Reunion date Posted Friday, August 21, 2009 08:58 AM Yeah, I joined Classmates once and it was a complete waste of money.... Chris, could you ask Angela to join THIS site and we can message her here? That way she doesn't have to give out her personal email address but at least we can contact her for free. Also, she could join Facebook.... Whatever. I did leave a general message on Classmates directing people to this site. I'll probably get kicked off of Classmates if they discover it, but I really don't care. Classmates is LAME. |

RE: Reunion date Posted Wednesday, August 26, 2009 10:34 AM Oh, well, I was a BAD GIRL when I put it on Classmates about this site.... see, the key is NOT to write www.glshsclassof1984.com, because when you put www. before it, that automatically identifies it as a website that you're posting (and then Classmates starts yapping at you to PAY UP!). But everyone already knows to put www before a website, so I just wrote glshsclassof1984.com . See how it didn't change it's color and underline it? Sneaky.....that's me!

RE: Reunion date Posted Thursday, September 17, 2009 05:55 PM It was brought to my attention that the date for this reunion didn't jive- the 27th is a friday, and Ange put it as a sat, so I'm assumong its friday~ I double checked her message on classmates and it said friday- the info on our reunion page was copy & pasted right from her email to me, so thats where that info came from. I guess for further info, you still need to go to classmates as she hasn't yet joined us here!! lol |
