I' busy the weekend of June 6 -- I've volunteered my services at an AOPA event at Frederick airport.  I flew an airplane for the first time in 12 years a few weeks ago and remembered how much I love it.  I was with an instructor (the wife and kids factor) who boosted my ego when he told me he'd never have guessed it had been 12 years since I've flown because I made every maneuver, including several take-oofs and landings, completley unassisted.  (The italics aren't mine -- this app turned it on and won't let me turn it off).

Cliff asked me to post a message: "...I won't be returning from Ireland until on or about 4 June.  Linda Blake and Paco will be on this trip as well. You might pass on the word that I'd love to be there (reunion), but that is a tough date for me.  Cliff Geisler..."

How about mid June?

Hi, Barb,

I saw your question about another reunion and I would love to see everyone!  Either year is good for me.  Thanks for making the suggestion.

Denise

Barb, I'm up for a reunion, depending on dates. I'll be in Europe most of June and September  2018. Might not be a bad idea to start looking at dates into 2019, which will give everybody a chance to set schedules well in advance. Regards to all. Cliff G.

I think Barb was even looking at 2020 - that is our 50th!!!!  Still can't believe the number.....

Hello Barb; 2019 or 2020 would be good. Nice that we're all still able to get together for our 50th! (-: Cheryl

Chiming in to make my vote “official”: scheduling and saving for a 2020 reunion, but will make a 2019 date work.

Looks like 2020 would be a good year. More time to find more classmates...

I can wait until 2020, and do the big five-oh.

But I'm relatively local, especially compared to Cee Cee, so anthing except the last two weeks of June, this year, is ok.

2019 would work, but I agree that 2020 gives us more chance to find our missing classmates. Either date is good for me.

Sherry, try not to think about it being 50 years since we graduated from PHS. Think of it as being one half century.  Hmmm... maybe that doesn't work for you either. ;)  Cliff G

Sherry and Cliff,

50 years since HS graduation ain't that bad, considering the alternative. Kathy & Pat won't be there.

If 50 sounds bad, and half a century is worse (I agree, Cliff), just tell folks we graduated in the last millenium :)

I can't believe that some of the folks that came into AA after I did; got married had kids, and now grand kids.

How do you get 30 years of sobriety?  Don't drink.  Don't die.

Love to all.

Chappie, wow, 30 years of sobriety is really impressive and a huge life achievement.  Congratulations.  I am sure that it wasn't easy over the years but what a beautiful gift you gave to your family and to yourself.  You must be an inspiration to many.

I had to find another contract to work on when my last one ended.  It took the longest time in 37 years to find something else to work on that did not required going into D.C. or Northern Virginia.  I'd almost given up, when I got a call to come talk to some foks working on another CMS contract.

The receptionist's name is Collete Anderson (spelling may be wrong).  I don't go to that side of the building often, but the last time I did, she said "good morning, Chappie".

I recognized here name plate, and told her I graduated with her big brother.  I guess she must've told Larry we work together. I've been using John since 1970, until a couple of years ago when my boys told me that Chappie was an awesome nickname, so I've started using it again away from work.

Collette did not remember that I played reheasal piano for a musical she was in 30 years ago at the Avondale Mill in Laurel.

My friends Bruce and Sherry Dodgson produced/directed it, and were in a pinch for a piano player.

Bruce took me to my first AA meeting.  He won't mind if I break his annonymity.

He started drinking again after 12 years of sobriety.  I led a meeting for his second 10-year anniversary, and I led another meeting for him on Memorial Day, when he had another 1 year anniversary.

Everyone's well in the Buell household.  My wife's mother just hjad her 96th birthday.  She still drives!

My mom's been gone for more than 10 years.  My alcoholic father died when I was 22.

I know I'm rambling, but my Ritalin has worn off.  I just wanted to put a few new words on the class web site.

I'm not that interested in a dinner at Pallotti, or a Mass.

The last time I was at a Mass was when my bother's youngest wanted to marry a guy with full-blown concervative catholic parents; and since she was a nominal Catholic (Tommy changed religions before he died); she the entire rigamarole on Easter Sunday -- a high mass!

When they got married, it was only a short Mass.

Hard to believe Tommy's been gone a month more than I've been sober (30.5+ years -- if I don't drink today).

If anyone needs a meeting place, my house in Mt Airy is 1.5 miles off I-70, ~3000 sq ft, ~.65 acres

4104 Vickie Lynn Ct Mt Airy MD 21771 301 829 9413

I'm good for the rest of the month ... need to go to Delaware one weekend --- but I can work around others' schedules.

Anybody still play golf?  There's a great 18 hole Montgomery County GC across the street (houses around GC are in Frederick county).  I'm bad, but enjoy myself.  Most recent two scores are 101 and 105 -- best score of my life was before Tommy died, and I shot an 87.

There's no obligation to attend any of the reunion events (including Mass).

The cocktails on Friday are $25. I'll be at both the cocktails and the dinner.

The dinner on Saturday with DJ is $75. We can sit at a "Class of 70" table. Should be fun - dancing to 60's and 70's music.

Sister Karen will be at the reunion.

Please consider coming. We'd like to see you!

I'll probably pass on the thing at Pallotti -- my wife is class of '74 and belongs to a "Pallotti -70s" group that keeps us up on the classes that followed us.  And Emily Hunt's youngest brother is a proctologist in Frederick that we 50+ year olds see every 5 years -- great drugs before colonoscopies.

I spoke with Barb yesterday, and will probably meet with some folks next Friday for lunch in Columbia.

I agree with Barb that our 50 year reunion is the one we should plan for and do right.

On a different subject:

Those of you in the Washington - Baltimore - Virginia area, look at the web page www.kellybellband.com and see where they might be appearing in your area -- beer, chili, blues fests, etc.  They're a great dancing band with a fabulous drummer named John Robert Buell.

BerkLee College of music in Boston was worth it.  He was a cum laude grad.

The www.kellybellband.com landing page has a picture of the band.  My son is on the top, left.
