John Oren Holt, Jr., of Mooresville, North Carolina, passed away on February 12, 2010, after a brief illness at the age of 64 years. Mr. Holt was predeceased by his parents, John Oren Holt and Eloise Cranford Holt. He is survived by an uncle, Homer Holt & wife, Jean; numerous cousins in North and South Carolina including Anne Lowe, of Davidson, NC, Bill Hengeveld and family of Pittsboro, NC, and Albert Culp and family of Mooresville, NC. Mr. Holt is also survived by his beloved dog, Cubby. Mr. Holt graduated from Mooresville High School and attended St. Andrews College in Laurinburg, North Carolina. Mr. Holts career consisted of his being Marketing Director for Southern Bell in North Carolina and Vice President of Advanced Drainage Systems. After a successful career in advertising, Mr. Holt became a realtor in Jupiter, Florida. Mr. Holt enjoyed past membership in Palmetto Golf Club in Aiken, South Carolina and was a member of Good Shepherds Episcopal Church in Jupiter, Florida. John was a loyal friend to those who knew him. A memorial service will be held at the Cavin-Cook Funeral Home Chapel at 3:00 PM, February 14, 2010, with Dr. Clay Brown and Dr. Fred Coates officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Hospice ; Palliative Care of Iredell County.
