Roy's death was tragic. As one of you has expresed to me, "No one knows what he might have done if he had lived." The tragedy of unfulfilled potential. If Roy had not reached the point of creating significantly, he was clearly a creative person, in potential. If he had not been able to determine "Real" with a capital "R" he was making serious attempts and had eliminated some less than significant alternatives in his persistent quest.

We regret the loss of his influence in the community-his candid and critical comment upon our common life-his rare good humor-his questioning of faith healthily combined with provisional affirmations-his involvment with and concern for persons who have been denied our obvious blessings-his quest for a meaningful freedom from deadly conformity-and his obvious if guarded love for persons and his life.
