John Walter Odiorne, III, 72, of Florence, passed away on Wednesday, September 11, 2013, at his residence. Mr. Odiorne was born in Oakdale, LA, a son of the late John Walter Odiorne, Jr. and Mary Keels Odiorne Harrell. He is a 1967 graduate of St Andrews Presbyterian College in Laurinburg, NC. He retired as an engineer with Richmond Wilhoit after forty-five years of service. He was a member of Southside Baptist Church and served for three years as a Life Changer crew leader with the youth group. He is predeceased by his parents, and his step-father, Charlie Harrell. Surviving are wife of twenty-six years, Betty M. Odiorne; his daughter, Patricia (Anthony) Odiorne Autobee and their daughter, Taylor Autobee, all of Surprise, AZ; half-brother, Charles (Carol) Wesley Harrell, Jr. of Due West, SC; his sister, Susan (Wayne) Huckabee of Chattanooga, TN; his father-in-law, E. F. "Mac" McCumber of Scranton, SC; two brothers -in-law, Larry McCumber of Florence and Randy (Kathy) McCumber of York, SC; three sisters-in-law, Shirley (Denny) Edwards of Socastee, SC, Janice (Damon) Runion of Scranton, SC, and Martha Frye of Moncks Corner, SC; and two faithful companions, his Amazon parrot, Gus, and his Labradoodle, Jack. Memorials may be made to Southside Baptist Church, 1356 Pineland Drive, Florence, SC 29505. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, September 14, 2013, at Southside Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM Saturday at the church.
