Another of our LHS Class of 1960 Classmates has passed away.
.png) Pat Mattingly, Jackie McGohon’s nephew, called me this morning (June 22, 2017) with bad news. Regrettably Jackie died in an auto accident yesterday. He knew we were school mates and friends and asked that I let others know. I have no other details except that the funeral likely will be Monday. Linda and Jackie moved to LaGrange many years ago so my expectation is that the funeral will be there but I’m just guessing. (Email from Spencer Clark).

John "Jack" Overton McGohon, 75, passed away June 21, 2017.
He is preceded in death by: his parents; John "Jack" Sr. and Aline McGohon.
Survivors include: his wife, Linda B. McGohon; children, Kelly McGohon, Jeff McGohon, and Jennifer Willard.
A service to celebrate his life will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 26, at Covenant United Methodist Church, LaGrange.

Mr. Larry R. Farris, age 78 of Lebanon, KY, passed away Saturday, January 7, 2017. He was born on December 30, 1938. Mr. Farris worked in auto sales, having worked at Farris Auto Sales in Lebanon, KY, and Conway Heaton in Bardstown, KY. He was a Master of the Lebanon Masonic Lodge # 87, an Eastern Star past patron and taught Sunday school and served as a deacon at Lebanon Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Ingram and Louise Lawrence Farris; son-in-law, Kevin Krebs.
Survivors include his wife, Darnel Luckett Farris, of Lebanon, KY; two daughters, Ingra Krebs, of Louisville, KY, Candace Crawford (Jerald), of Frankfort, KY; four granddaughters, Sophie Krebs, Farris Krebs, Madison Crawford, Savannah Crawford; two brothers, Ronald L. Farris, of Louisville, KY, Lynn D. Farris, of Lebanon, KY. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at Lebanon Baptist Church, officiated by Dr. David Whitlock. Interment to follow in Ryder Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, January 10, 2017 from 4:00 to 8:30 p.m. at Bosley Funeral Home.

Mr. John Glasscock Claypool, age 76 of Lebanon, KY, passed away Friday, December 23, 2016 at Spring View Hospital. He was born on December 11, 1940 in Bradfordsville, KY. Mr. Claypool was a retired employee of Angel Manufacturing Company.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James B. and Elizabeth Dohoney Glasscock Claypool; brother, Jim Claypool.
Survivors include his wife, Jane Clark Claypool, of Lebanon, KY; daughter, Renee Claypool Miles, of Bradfordsville, KY; two granddaughters, Amanda Lynn Miles and Jessica Renee Miles; sister, Cindy Ford, of Leitchfield, KY.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at Bosley Funeral Home. Interment to follow in Old Liberty Cemetery.

Sharon Dorothy Estes Taylor, age 73 of London, KY, widow of Alvin Taylor, passed away on Thursday, February 11 in Brownsburg, IN. She leaves behind three children, Mike Taylor and wife Lisa of Somerset, KY, Keith Taylor and wife Nancy of Indiana, Jeffrey Taylor of Blackwater, KY; one brother, Edgar Lynn Estes of Richmond, KY; three grandchildren, Amber Taylor, B.J. Taylor, Niki Stamm, plus a host of other family and friends to mourn her passing. Along with her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, Edgar & Dorothy Estes. Funeral services for Sharon Dorothy Taylor will be conducted on Monday, February 15 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of House-Rawlings Funeral Home with Joey Burns and Brad Stephens officiating. WHY SALLY WAS NOMINATED
Sally is a dedicated volunteer to the airport, she’s also an extremely passionate ambassador for our community. Sally comments about how proud she is of Louisville – saying it’s a progressive city that appreciates economic growth and local businesses. She is always pleased to share with people her favorite aspects and attractions of the community – making sure to tell them how wonderful of a place it is to call home. As an Airport Ambassador for more than nine years, she has logged roughly 180 volunteer hours annually at the airport – without working a set scheduled. This is impressive, given that a full-time worker is paid for approximately 2,000 hours annually. It is quite remarkable she gives so much of her time to a volunteer role. Our volunteer coordinators and her fellow Ambassadors regularly notice Sally’s giving spirit. Even though Sally do not work a set schedule every week, staff knows they can count on her when needed – even for last minute openings with little to no prior notice. She’s always cheerful and happy to accept. Her lively spirit is infectious – many of her fellow volunteers ask to work in the Information Booth with her because they know Sally will take good care of the visitors, but also make sure everyone else is smiling, laughing and having a good time. Sally has also dedicated additional time on various occasions to help patrons for the Louisville Regional Airport Authority’s special events. This included the grand openings for the Crittenden Drive North and South Connectors and Taxiway Alpha on the airfield when she greeted state, local and federal officials, VIPs and other attendees. She also helps each year welcoming Kentucky Derby guests and assisting with early morning departures of these guests by starting at 4 a.m. to provide complimentary bubble wrap® and a cheerful “thanks for visiting” as they depart. She also assisted 1,200-plus soldiers that previously departed annually from the airport for the holidays and works when large conventions or special needs grounds come to the city. Sally said one of the most rewarding and humbling experiences she had was assisting attendees of the 2012 American Council of the Blind National Convention – helping them from the plane to their transportation from the airport. Countless compliments from passengers, guests and others have been received about Sally as she is truly an asset to the Airport Ambassador Program and our community. To us, she is an ideal Ambassador – one who is approachable and friendly, knowledgeable about and proud of our airport and community, generous with her time and is never afraid to try new challenges.

In Memory of Michael V. Thompson, November 1, 1942 - September 10, 2015
Mike was born on November 1, 1942 and passed away after a brief illness on September 10, 2015.
He is survived by his wife, Wanda C. Thompson; sons, Brooke (Kristen) and Stuart (Beth); step-sons, Mitch (Bonnie) and Robert; five grandchildren; and one brother.
He was a veteran of the Vietnam War and graduated from both the University of Kentucky and Vanderbilt Law School. He was a retired attorney, having practiced law in Nashville for 40 years. He served as the attorney for the TN Highway Patrol prior to going in to private practice.
A memorial service will be held at two o' clock in the afternoon on Sunday, September 27, 2015 at Brentwood Roesch-Patton Funeral Home with visitation one hour prior. A reception will follow the memorial service.
Memorials can be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society or the Nashville Humane Society.

Lora Gourley, 52, of Benton, KY passed away Sunday, August 2, 2015 at her residence. She was born January 2, 1963, in Lebanon, KY. Lora worked as a Insurance Billing Clerk for Lourdes Hospital and was a Office Clerk for Dr. Brad Albertson in Benton, KY. She was a member of the Calvert City First Baptist Church. Lora was active in scouting with her three sons when they were in scouting.

He was preceded in death by his father, Cranston O. "Bro" Bosley, Jr; mother, Amelia Edelen Bosley Ratliff; step-father, Dr. J.W. Ratliff.
Survivors include three sisters, Pamela (Ralph) Martin, of Hot Springs, Arkansas, Carol Kimberlain, of Elizabethtown, KY, Ellen Benton, of Cincinnati, Ohio. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

Just received word that Donna June Graham Graves' husband, Henry, passed away March 17, 2013 from complications with pneumonia. Henry was 74, and a retired college professor. Donna and Henry traveled to several different countries and shared many stories about their adventures together. She is now living in Charleston, SC. Please remember her in your prayers.

Jerry Harris' mother, Ethel Mae Harris, 90 of Elizabethtown, KY passed away on Friday, April 19, 2013. She was a native of Warren County, Bowling Green, KY. Her funeral was held at Brown Funeral Home in Elizabethtown on Sunday, April 21st and graveside serves were held on Monday, April 22nd at Fairview Cemetery in Bowling Green, KY. She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Ruble 'Sam' F. Harris, 2 grandchildren and 5 brothers. She is survived by a daughter, Pam (Gary) Hinton of E-town, KY, three sons, Jerry (Mary) Harris of Louisville, Bob (Mary Charles) Harris of Knoxville, TN and Ken (Sharon) Harris of San Antonio, Texas; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Mrs Harris' son, Ken Harris officiated the funeral and graveside services.
Some of you will remember Jerry's father, Sam Harris as the person who volunteered his time to operate the Lebanon Recreation Center back in the late 1950's. I know I did as I was there every time is was open.

Obituary for Ted Cook (former coach at LHS in the 1950's)
COOK Ted, 93, husband of Patsy Back Cook, died Thursday, March 28, 2013. Born in Democrat, KY, he was the son of the late Floyd and Ella Richardson Cook. During his career as an educator, Ted was a high school teacher, assistant principle and coach. He retired from the Kentucky State Department of Education as the Director of Adult Education. He enjoyed watching sports, playing golf and spending time with his family. Ted was an active member of Beaumont Presbyterian Church and The Defenders of Bataan and Corregidor. Ted was an Army veteran of WW II, during his service he was a Japanese POW and a survivor of the Bataan Death March. In addition to his wife of 52 years, he is survived by his children, Richard (Patricia) Cook, Jackie (Ron) Merrifield and Libby (Steve) Leedy, all of Lexington; eleven grandchildren and four great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Lettie Craft Cook, as well as five brothers and three sisters. Funeral services will be 11:30am Monday at Beaumont Presbyterian Church. Burial will follow at Camp Nelson National Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Aaron Akey, Peyton Sands, Colin Sands, Bill Back, Jesse Back, Sam Croucher and Lee Hunter. Visitation will be 5-8pm Sunday at Milward-Southland. OSBORNE, PATRICIA ISAACS, 68, of Anchorage, passed away Sunday March 3, 2013 at her home with her family by her side.
She was a very active member of Southeast Christian Church and a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Patricia was preceded in death by her parents, Owen and Louise Isaacs; son, Michael Glenn Osborne; and her sister, Alice Ball (Dave).
She is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, James Terry Osborne; children, Terri Patterson (W.J.), Brian Osborne (Leigh) and Traci Seaver (Todd); siblings, Bill Isaacs (Edna), Benda Privette, Linda Martin (John), Harry Isaacs (Burba), Tom Isaacs (Kathy), David Isaacs (Judy) and Tim Isaacs (Ann Marie); 10 grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and grandmother, Bess Isaacs.
Patricia's funeral service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Southeast Christian Church with entombment in Calvary to follow. Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, at Ratterman's 12900 Shelbyville Road, East Louisville.
Expressions of sympathy may be given to Southeast Christian Church in lieu of flowers.

LHS Class of 1960 "Lunch Bunch" get-together was Thursday, October 18, 11 am est at Back Home Restaurant in Elizabethtown. We had a great time, good food and spent 2 1/2 hours talking and telling "high school stories"... like the one about "senior skip day" told by Sally Mattingly Tilford. Seems there was... I must be getting senioritis cause I can't remember the rest of it.

Thursday, September 20th several got together for the Lunch Bunch. Originally planned for Porcini's in Louisville so they could see the famous "booth" but they only served dinner, so they went to an alternate place, The Blue Dog Bakery and Cafe and ate lunch, then to Desserts by Helen for... you guessed it.... dessert (what else). They took several pictures in front of Porcini's, but none at the Blue Dog or Desserts for Helen. I think they tried to pick up a "YMCA" guy who was working on the street in front of Porcini's (as you see in the picture).

Blaine Bishop Jr
Obituary
BISHOP, BLAINE JR., 69, husband of Carolyn Bishop, died April 23, 2012 at his residence.
He is the son of the late Blaine and Bertie Ree Bishop Sr. Mr. Bishop was retired from Rohm & Haas, where he worked fire and security. He was a U.S. Army veteran and member of Ashby Lane Baptist Church.
Besides his wife of 16 years, he is survived by his children, Belinda Duggan (Terry) and "Lil" Blaine III (Maureen); stepchildren, Paula Phillips (Dan) and Timmy Meyer (Denise); grandchildren, Karyn (John), Donnie (Ashley), Wes and Matthew; great-grandchildren, Ethan, Evan, Jackson and Owen, whom he loved dearly; sisters, Barbara Lanham (Baute) and Beverly Sue Rusch (Chris); his brother, Bobby Joe Bishop (Elaine); former wife, Brenda Bishop; caregiver, Josh Kingren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one sister, Brenda Carol London.
A service celebrating Blaine's life was held noon Saturday, April 28 at Louisville Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 4400 Dixie Hwy. Visitation was 2 to 8 pm Friday, April 27 at the funeral home.

It is with regret that I inform you of the death of Pat Tapscott, Coach John Tapscott's wife. John coached basketball and baseball and I believe I taught Health at LHS in 1959 and 60. Pat was born May 12, 1931 and died July 14, 2012. Pat was cremated and a Memorial Service was held at Eastwood Baptist Church, in Bowling Green on July 21. Pat gallantly fought cancer for several years, some of you may remember she was in the hospital when John visited our 47th reunion nearly three years ago. I visited with Pat and John in their home occasionally over the last 4 + years. Prior to that, I often saw Pat in my wife's beauty shop, John was often with her which gave us the opportunity to reminisce about our days at LHS. During the Memorial, I learned just how much of a class act that Pat was. She was very active in her work at a local bank, and her church, She often gave her testimony even up to the last few weeks of her life.

A LHS faculty member Coach Sam Sears, passed away on July 18, 2012 at the age of 84. In the Lexington Herald-Leader, his obituary continually referred to him as "Sammy". Somehow I just can't feature Coach Sears as a "Sammy". (Information about Coach Sears came from McChord Carrico).

On Saturday, June 16, 2012 the "LHS Lunch Bunch" got together and celebrated classmates 70th Birthday. Good morning. Your email about being 70 years old made me think about way back when I was just 69 (last month.) As I told you, a lightning strike to a pine tree 50 feet in front of my house about six weeks ago entered my house and fried a number of items, including a refrigerator fan. As the repairman was sitting on the floor behind the fridge replacing the fan, he complained about being nearly 60 years old and still having to work and do physical labor at his age. I told him I was still working and asked him how old he thought I was. He studied me and then said, in all seriousness, "81 or 82." When I protested that I was nowhere near that age, he slammed me again by saying that I must have had an awfully tough life. If he had been a little smaller, I would have thrown him out of the house! I'm still depressed over his evaluations.

James Henry Brockman, 75, Bardstown, formerly of Lebanon, passed away Friday, May 11, 2012 at Veteran’s Hospital, Louisville.
Born on Jan. 31, 1937 in Marion County, Brockman was a U.S. Army veteran, a former employee of the Kroger Company from 1955 to 1969; Owens-Illinois from 1981 to 1984; and Wheaton Plastics from 1986 to 2002. He was also the owner of several businesses including: Brockman’s Little Giant Grocery in Lebanon, Western Auto in Springfield, and Brockman’s Furniture and Mattress in Bardstown. He served as a city councilman in Springfield and was a member of the Nelson County Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by: his parents, Omer and Genive Mattingly Brockman; and two brothers, Joe and Billy Brockman.
Survivors include: his wife, Phylis Mullins Brockman of Bardstown; a daughter, Windy Warren of Hammond, Ind.; four sons, Scott Brockman of Bloomfield, Phillip Brockman of Taylorsville, Taylor (Jessica) Brockman of Bardstown, and Steele Brockman of Hillview; three brothers, Paul (Margaret) Brockman of Lebanon, David Brockman of Martinez, Ga., and Steve (Kathy) Brockman of Summerfield, N.C.; two sisters, Leona (Wayne) Hancock of Lebanon and Lois (Bobby) Offutt of Oak Ridge, N.C.; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 15 at Bosley Funeral Home, Lebanon with burial in Lebanon National Cemetery. Bro. Darrell Goodlett officiated.
Pallbearers were Scott, Steele, Phillip, and Taylor Brockman, Windy Warren, and Pam Bingham.
Bosley Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. James Gerald "Jerry" Stine, age 78, of Lebanon, KY, passed away Monday, May 7, 2012 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center. He was born on January 15, 1934 in Marion County, KY. Jerry was a U.S. Navy Veteran, a retired Barber, having worked in the business for forty-two years, an avid hunter and fisherman, and one who enjoyed life. (Jerry was the brothr of Johnny Stine and brother-in-law of Patricia Weatherford Stine.

The Lunch Bunch is at it again and the crowd is growing. Even had a male person to attend, who by the way bought one of his famous pecan pies for dessert. They met at the Still House Restaurant in Lebanon, Ky for lunch and a good time was had by all (can't you tell by the smiles!) The next meeting of the Lunch Bunch will be May 16th at BJ's Bar and Grill, 201 Camptown Road in Bardstown, Kentucky. Come and join the fun.

TRICK OR TREAT - CARRICO STYLE
Trick or Treat night. The background is this. We told our grandkids we could not make it to their home for Halloween, their home being 150 miles away in Mississippi. We then drove to their town, donned our costumes (Betty is wearing the baseball cap), and went to their home. They gave us each a sucker, not knowing who we were, and we pretended silently to be aggravated at the small amount of the treats. They refused to give us more, and we left and walked around to the side of their house and stayed there for a few minutes. We then returned to their front door, walked in, and began searching the house for treats while they retreated, wide-eyed, to the back of their house where their mother was. Of course, she was in on the stunt. I then discovered the large bowl of treats, picked it up and headed for the front door. That was more than my eight-year old grandson could stand, and he immediately began a tug-of-war with me for the bowl. At that point in time, we decided to reveal ourselves to the grandkids. The grandson’s response was that because it was us, we had to give back the treats they had given us.
I had earlier told my other son what we planned on doing, telling him we were creating a memory with our grandkids. His response was that it may turn out to be a nightmare for them. Luckily, it all worked out to be fun. The picture Betty will send turned out to be one of my Christmas presents from the grandkids. McChord

Does any have any information on Donna Sue (Baby Doll)Woodrum or know where she now lives. I spent a lot of good times with her and some other friends at a lot of skating rinks from Danville to Campbelsville and a lot of other places in between and would love to connect with her again if possible. Woodford Reserve Distillery (near Versailles, Kentucky) outing
Five young ladies from our class visited the Woodford Reserve distillery near Versailles, Kentucky on Friday, June 17th. Woodford Reserve is a brand of premium small batch Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey produced by the Brown-Forman Corporation. It is distilled at the company's Woodford Reserve Distillery, and marketed under the former company name for the distillery, Labrot & Graham. The distillery is located in Woodford County, in central Kentucky. Formerly known as Labrot & Graham's Old Oscar Pepper Distillery, the distillery is approximately eight miles from the town of Versailles off US Route 60, between I-64 and Versailles. Each bottle is numbered with a batch number and bottle number. Woodford Reserve's alcohol content is 45.2% (90.4 Proof). No age statement is listed on the bottle. US law requires any bourbon aged less than four years to have an age statement, so the Woodford Reserve bottlings must be at least four years old. I remember Pete Dudgeon. I always thought he would be a football player as he was tall and bulky. I was in Mrs Morgan’s class in the 6th grade, but I do remember Pete.
I also remember Diane Wayman. She is my wife, Donna’s second cousin. She and her husband, Carl Sanford lived in Pinehurst, NC and the last Donna heard of her was about 9 years ago at a Wayman Reunion in Bradfordsville. She had a younger sister named Charlotte Ann. I remember when she moved away because her Dad had was starting up a new business and seems like it had to do with potato chips. Her Dad, Hubert Wayman was part-owner of Woodland Inn (which was out on Campbellsville Road and a rough night club) in the 1950’s until he sold his part to his wife's kin, a Woodrum (whose daughter “Baby Doll” Woodrum was a hostess at the night club).

Diane Wayman was one of my best friends in grade school but I don't know where she lives now. I worked with her aunt, (Audrey Wayman) for several years and when she died I saw Diane at the funeral home. I'll bet someone from Brafordsville would know where is now.
I also remember Pete Dudgeon but did not know about the accident nor did I hear that he passed away. He was a stepbrother to my 2nd cousin and he lived with them the short time he was in school here.
Anyone know anything about Donna Sue Mardis? My mother gave me the worst spanking of my life because I stayed after school and played on that big old tree for hours behind Lebanon Elementary with Donna Sue. I think it was 3rd or 4th grade. The spanking wasn't so bad - doing it in front of my friend hurt more than anything.

A Memory from McChord Carrico...
We had a classmate in grade school whose name was Diane Wayman. I wonder if anyone knows where she moved, etc?
Also, in the sixth grade we had a classmate named Pete Dudgeon. He was with us the one year in Mrs. Kessler’s class. We sat next to each other, and one day I was describing to him how a golf ball was made. He didn’t believe my description of the interior of the golf ball he (or I) had; therefore, I borrowed David Rakes’ pocket knife, and Pete started to cut the ball in half. The knife slipped, and cut deeply through the webbing between his thumb and forefinger. He bled profusely, and we attempted to stem the blood flow with Kleenex from Mrs. Kessler’s desk without telling her of the problem. When that didn’t work, and Pete started to pass out, we enlisted the aid of Mrs. Kessler and helped her and Mr. Martin (?) rush Pete to the hospital. He returned the next day with a heavily bandaged hand. Pete later played football for Louisville Manual and was an All-State and All-American High School player in 1960 (we sure could have used him on our football team.) He played football on scholarship with Purdue and was recognized as an outstanding player. He later was involved in the stock brokerage business and passed away in his early 50s of a heart attack. I wonder if anyone else remembers him and/or that incident.

A Memory from Pat Wetherford Stine...
Yes, I remember the Sisk Brothers Restaurant. Right before we graduated, Martha, Nancy, Paige and I decided that we needed to do something that we could talk about later, since we never missed school or dared to mess up with any of the teachers. So, we decided we would play hookey during the last study hall (big deal - huh). We went into the Sisk Brothers Restaurant and within 2 minutes Mr. Sisk asked us what we were doing out of school. We all looked at each other and one of us (I'm not sure who) said that we went to St. A (since they seemed to be out every other day for something). He knew better and said that he did not believe us. Well, needless to say, we were back in study hall within 15 minutes of when it started. When I think of it, this seems so harmless today; but, back then we were scared we would be expelled if we were caught. Of course, we didn't think of that before we did it.
And I remember the "fried glazed donuts" at the Arista Snack Shop. They were the best ever.
