Obituary

James Walter Ellis, age 61, died at his home in Columbia, South Carolina on January 23, 2021. He graduated from high school in Lebanon, Ohio and went on to serve in the US Navy from 1982 until 1989 aboard the USS Jason stationed in Pearl Harbor. James then worked in the electronics field until retirement. He was an avid fisherman. He was also a talented woodworker and loved fast cars, a long-time member of the Sunbeam Alpine club. James was predeceased by his father Walter Ellis and his mother Phyllis. He is survived by his son Ben, sister Patty Gruhlke (Buck Cremeans), uncle Joe Ellis, and niece, Shalone. A private celebration of life will be held for family and friends.
