In Memory

Don Goodwin

Edwin Donald Goodwin was a member of our class for part of our junior high school years.  In talking to his grandmother who still lives in Lehi we found out just a few things about him.

He spent some early years in California.  His parents separated and he lived in Lehi for some years.  He lived in San Diego with his mother and graduated from a high school there.

He loved midget auto racing and had won a trophy racing in Riverside, California.  On July 7, 1956, he was racing in Phoenix, Arizona, and was killed during a race.  This was before the time of rollbars and helmets.  At the time of his death, he was working in San Diego at Ryan Aircraft and was engaged to be married.

His father was Edwin Goodwin and he was the only child of his father's first marriage.  His stepmother, Elva Goodwin, said Don had a stepbrother Nolan and a half sister, Connie.  He is remembered as being a sweet young man.  He was buried in San Diego.
