
Geralee "Penelope" Barker Herrick, 68, of Sandy, Utah, passed away with family by her side after a valiant struggle with kidney cancer on November 12, 2012. She was born in Heber City, October 19, 1944 to Don and Nola Barker. As a divorced single mom of 3 kids and with the help of her mother, Geralee received her teaching degree in 1975 from the University of Utah. She married her best friend, Brent Herrick on October 8, 1976 and had another daughter shortly after. She delighted in teaching for 25 years in the Granger School District where she was loved by all her students and colleagues.
Geri had many strengths and talents she so willingly shared with the world. She enjoyed helping others shine through directing plays and programs. Her kindness, joy, and light touched countless others through her love of teaching, theater, music, poetry, and friendship. She will be remembered for her story telling, love of life, and sweet smile.
Survived by mother, Nola Barker, husband of 36 years, Brent Herrick, her children, Lori Reese (Andy), Roger Lee (Pam), Shaunna Lee Ford, & Summer Fuller (Brandon), 16 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren, 4 brothers, & 2 sisters.
A viewing will be held Friday, November 16 from 7-9pm at the Sandy Utah Crescent Stake Center located at 1753 E 10980 S, Sandy, Utah. Funeral services held Saturday, November 17, 11am at the same location with a viewing one hour prior. Internment at Larkin Sunset Gardens.
