Patricia Ann Brown Fox, our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away at the age of 80. She had a short battle with cancer and passed peacefully in her home surrounded by loved ones.
Pat was born to Howard Bird and Beth Peterson Brown on December 13, 1943, in Van Nuys, California. She grew up in Lehi, Utah, and has been a lifelong resident. She had fond memories of her Grandmother Brown being her 3rd-grade teacher and first piano teacher. She graduated from Lehi High School and was the first “Miss Lehi.”
Pat graduated from Brigham Young University in 1966 with a degree in elementary education and family relations. After graduating, she taught 1st grade in the Jordan School District for several years. During that time, she met her sweetheart, Brent Fox. Brent and Pat’s mothers were classmates and friends and were thrilled about their families joining. In 1967, they married in the Salt Lake temple and have celebrated 57 years together.
Pat had a lifelong love of music and was a gifted pianist and teacher. In over 30 years of teaching private lessons, she touched the lives of hundreds of students and their families. She enjoyed her associations with other piano teachers in their professional organizations. Her love of piano is a legacy that will continue for generations through her children, grandchildren, and students.
She served in many capacities in the Lehi 9th ward, having recently “retired” as the piano accompanist for the choir. She followed in her mother's footsteps, rendering loving, compassionate service and could always be counted on to care for those in need. She enjoyed serving with her friends in the ward, creating prize-winning floats for the Lehi parade.
Pat enjoyed many years of attending BYU games, completing puzzles, traveling around the world with best friends Ann and Steve Swenson, and loving on her many pets. She was a fabulous mother and grandmother, prioritizing time together and enjoying being with her close-knit family. She especially enjoyed holiday trips as a family to Bear Lake, Newport Beach, and Lake Powell.
Pat is survived by her husband Brent; children Allyson (Ryan) Reed, Cordell (Amy) Fox, Nichole (Ryan) Beck, Trisha (Tyler) Sedgwick, and McKay Fox. She is also survived by her brother, Stephen Brown, and her 16 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Beth, her brother, Russell, and her son, Damon.
A viewing will be held at the Lehi LDS chapel at 481 East 300 North from 6-8:30 PM on February 27th. To honor Pat's wishes, there will be a private funeral service for family members only.
