I remember hearing that Steve died during the Viet Nam War, but I'm not sure if that's true. Since my last name was 'Clothier' and his 'Cole', we sat next to each other for many of our classes. I remember him as such a sweet, gentle guy. He might have had a 'tough' exterior but during the years I found it was just the exterior. Rest in Peace Steve.
Jeanne, your memory is correct. It was shortly after he left for the war. In fact, the story I remember him telling me in the KukU parking lot the night before he was leaving was that he was a "mole". I asked him what that was and he told me they were the ones that went into the tunnels first. They had a very short life expectancy.
Then my memory is that he was shot down in a helicopter, before he landed in Nam.

We are so lucky.
