It is with a heavy heart that I share that my dad has passed away. He is now free from pain, and will forever be in our hearts. We find comfort in knowing he is resting peacefully now. The memories will bring us healing in the days ahead. He was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.

Loren Dean Swanson, 82, of Lincoln, passed away June 26, 2026. Born September 29, 1943, in Omaha NE to Weir and Gladys (Dahlberg) Swanson.  Loren graduated from Lincoln High School in 1961 and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from the University of Nebraska in 1965, where he was a proud member of Theta Xi Fraternity.

Following graduation, Loren was commissioned as a Lieutenant in the United States Army and honorably served in Vietnam from 1968 to 1969.  After returning home, he continued his education, earning an MBA and becoming a Certified Public Accountant.

Loren's greatest love story began in high school.  As a senior at Lincoln High, he and Linda Wilson began dating and he proudly gave her is coveted "L" pin.  Although life took them in different directions after graduation, fate had other plans.  Nine years later, while vacationing in San Francisco CA, Loren happened to cross paths with Linda's parents, Betty and Charles Wilson, during a Sunday afternoon walk in Golden Gate Park.  They encouraged him to call Linda, where she then lived, while Loren was in San Francisco.  He did, and the rest is history.  Loren and Linda were married on April 1, 1972, in San Francisco, in a ceremony officiated by his father-in-law, Charles Wilson.

Loren was a kind, loyal, and sincere man with a warm smile who genuinely loved talking with people.  His warth made everyone feel welcome.  He loved to travel and remained a devoted Husker fan throughout his life.

Loren is lovingly remembered by his wife of 54 years, Linda (Wilson) Swanson; daughter, Circy Gastman (Michael); son, Charles Swanson; grandchildren, Sydney Gastman, Brett Gastman and Fenway Swanson; brother Duane Swanson (Roine); brother, Ron Swanson (Terri); along with many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members and dear friends.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate nurses and staff of Cedar Creek of High Plains Memory Care and to Aseracare Hospice of Lincoln for the care, kindness and support they provided.

Though he will be deply missed, Loren's legacy lives on in the lives he touched through his kindness, integrity, quiet strength, and love for his family and friends.

A Celebration Gathering will be on Sunday, August 9, from 3 to 5 p.m., at Roper and Sons Midtown Chapel, 4300 O Street.
