
Donald Ray Boyd, 52, Cedar City, Utah, formerly Lincoln, Omaha, was in a motorcycle accident on May 7, 2006, and received severe head trauma. He died as a result of the accident on Saturday (7/1/06), in Las Vegas. He was born in the military hospital of Yokohama, Japan, to Staff Sgt. Jack and Arlene Boyd on Feb. 17, 1954. Don married Robin L. McCandless on Dec. 19, 1981. They have one daughter, Emily J. Boyd.
He attended public schools in Lincoln and served in the U.S. Navy for four years. He attended the University of Nebraska and attained a master's degree in teaching. He taught electronics and math at Southeast Community College in Lincoln for several years before hiring on with the Federal Aviation Administration as an electronics technician. He worked for the FAA in Omaha and Cedar City. He was also a representative with the FAA union and helped negotiate the national contract.
He loved fine firearms and was an avid gun collector. He enjoyed hunting all kinds of game from doves to quail and pheasants to rabbits, antelope and deer. He was hoping to get the elusive elk.
