In Memory

Stewart Cummings

With a heart as large as his family, Stewart "ZZ" Cummings, born on March 23, 1954 in Ord, NE, USA, lived a life filled with love, laughter, and a deep dedication to those he held dear. Nicknamed ZZ, Cletus, Dad, and Pops, Stewart was the type of man who could fix anything that broke, cheer on his beloved Nebraska sports teams with a fervor that was contagious, and smoke a brisket to perfection. His love for Harley motorcycles was well known, as were his skills in gardening, home repairs, and mechanical work. He was a man of many talents, but perhaps his greatest achievement was his ability to make anyone feel like part of his family. Stewart had a career with the Burlington Railroad that spanned many years before retiring. His dedication and loyalty were evident in his work, but even more so in his care for his family and friends. He was a compassionate and loving husband to his wife, Melodee Cummings, and a devoted father to his children and their partners. His love extended to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought him immense joy. As the saying goes, "The love of a family is life's greatest blessing," and Stewart was indeed blessed. His family was his pride, his joy, and the source of his strength. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ollie and Gwendolyn Cummings, his brother Alan Keldson, his sister Brenda Cummings, and his granddaughter Dijah Ybarra. Affectionately known as "Pops," Stewart leaves behind a legacy that will continue to shine in the hearts of those who loved him. His dedication and kindness, his playful spirit, and his unwavering loyalty will continue to inspire and guide his family and friends. As we remember Stewart, we must celebrate his life and cherish the memories we made with him. A Celebration of Life for Stewart "ZZ" Cummings will be held on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at 12:00pm CST at the Willard Community Center, 1245 South Folsom Street, Lincoln, Nebraska, 68522. In memory of Stewart, we invite you to leave your favorite memories and upload photos to his memorial page. Let's remember and celebrate the life of this dedicated, compassionate, loving, and loyal man. He may have left us, but his spirit lives on in the memories we've shared and the love he instilled in us.
