
Valerie Jean Young Fisher, 69, of Lincoln, passed away Saturday, March 23, 2024 peacefully with her family by her side. She was born on May 12, 1954, in Lancaster, Pennsylvania to Jacob and Margaret (Briar) Young.
Valerie graduated from Lincoln High School in 1972. After graduation, she began working for the Lincoln Telephone Company, until the birth of her son. After her divorce, she went back to work as an in-home health aid and found her passion for caring for others. She went back to school and became a Licensed Practical Nurse, beginning her career in the medical field that she loved, until she retired so that she could spend more time with her husband, Tom.
Valerie enjoyed crocheting, coloring books, watching NHRA races, getting her hair and nails done, and being the neighborhood "Mom" when her boys were young.
She is survived by her husband, Tom Fisher; children, Todd & Kim Gertsch, Joel & April Gertsch, Scott & Michelle Fisher, and Brenda & Jay Uhing; grandchildren, Alie Gertsch,
Haleigh Gertsch, Natalie Gertsch, Josh Dinslage, Connor Gibbs, Frank Newstrom, Crystal Newstrom, Savannah Newstrom, Serenity Shafer, Aidan Kucera, Hannah Fisher, Sarah Fisher, Taylor & Austin Gregg, and Cody & Kelcey Henderson;
great-granddaughter, Kinsley Gregg; stepfather, Joseph Garcia; siblings, Gregg Young, Gail & Richard Lowery, Richard & Denise Garcia, Margaret Sievers; nephews, nieces, aunt and cousins.
Valerie was preceded in death by her mother, Margaret Garcia; father, Jacob Young; stepfather, Larry TeSelle; father- and mother-in law, Gay & Elsie Fisher; grandson, Blaine Henderson; great-grandchildren, Jayden Gregg, Baby G & Peanut; siblings
