I sat next to Richard Heakin in marketing and merchandising class. We were buddies in the class and halls but not outside of school. He was bright and really funny. He was the kind of person that I assumed would do well in life.
A few weeks back I read more about the killing. I located one of the murderers on the internet. Per his Facebook page he is living in Tuscon. His profile page is of him sitting on his sofa appearing (to me) somewhat hapless. Forty-some years on I can only imagine how he and the others might feel and think about their actions. I trust they have found some peace and have worked in some way to bring about change.
