Michael James Carey was born July 8, 1952 to John and Iva (Whipple) Carey in North Platte, Nebraska.  His family moved to Lincoln, and he graduated from Lincoln High School in 1972.  He married Patricia Kallemeyn of Lincoln in 1974,  Michael died in Littleton, Colorado on September 21, 1988.  He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.  He was survived by his wife, two daughters, two sisters, and one brother.
