Eugene F. J. Cotter, “Slip”, “Coach”, 84, of Lincoln, died December 7, 2016. He was born in Lincoln on August 6, 1932 to Eugene & Gertrude (McKie) Cotter. He graduated from Lincoln High School, attended University of Nebraska in Lincoln, lettered all four years as a diver and was Big 7 Champion at UNL, and also U.S. Army Championship Diver. He taught physical education, driver’s education and later was a guidance counselor. He coached swimming and diving at Lincoln High School from 1961 until his retirement in 1992. Eugene was inducted into both Lincoln High School and Nebraska State High School Hall of Fame. For over forty years he was a spotter for UNL football, an avid golfer, amateur radio operator, and big red husker fan. Survived by daughter Jean and son’s Craig & Jeff. Preceded in death by wife Thelma Ann, son John W. and parents
