
Alma (Mundhenke) Howdeshell of Seward, formerly of Lincoln, died on December 23, 2011. Born June 6, 1917. She received her Bachelor's and Masters degrees from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln. Alma taught business education and was a principal at Pierce High School in Pierce, Nebraska. She relocated to Lincoln where she was employed as a counselor at Lincoln High School until her retirement. Alma enjoyed travel, visiting 48 of the 50 states and many foreign countries including Italy, Nigeria, Spain, Fiji, Australia, and New Zealand. At home, she enjoyed cultivating flowers, especially her roses. She was a member of GFWC Seward, Seward County Crime Stoppers, Eastern Star, First United Methodist Church of Seward, Kappa Gamma and Phi Sigma Tau. Alma is survived by her sister Ardath Saunders, Lincoln; niece Phyllis Christensen, Wausau, Wisconsin; nephew Gerry (Christie) Saunders, Unity, Maine; cousins and many dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Amanda and Ben Mundhenke; husband, Leo A. Howdeshell; and brother-in-law, Phil Saunders.
