Leander Stachura (Industrial Ed. )

Leander A Stachura, 84, of Lincoln, Ne passed away on Feb. 28, 2018. Born in Rural Duncan, NE to Joseph and Mary (Startz) Stachura on January 17, 1934. Graduated from Kramer High School in Columbus, NE in 1953. He then joined the Navy and served aboard the USS Coral Sea. Honorably discharged in 1957. Married Helen Sokol on August 20, 1960 in Platte Center. Graduated from Kearney State College with a MA in 1961, MS 1962. He was an Industrial Arts Instructor with Lincoln Public Schools for 32 years. Teaching at Whittier Jr. High School and Lincoln High School. Nebraska Industrial Arts Teacher of the Year in 1990. Member of St Patrick’s Church. A member of the American Legion Post 3 for over 50 years & Voiture 103, 40 & 8. Survived by wife, Helen of 57 years; children; Michael (Gail) Stachura, Lincoln, NE; daughter Cynthia Morand, Lincoln, NE; son Charles (Kelly) Stachura, Raymond, NE; grandchildren Ryan and Jamie Morand, Lincoln, NE; Max and Zoie Stachura of Raymond, NE; step granddaughters: Amy (Jason) Jazwick, Lincoln, NE; Shelly Moore, Columbus, NE; six step great grandchildren; brother Vigil (Vickie) Stachura, Bloomington, MN; sister Eileen Diers, Syracuse, NE; brother and sister-in-law Ed & Annette Sokol, State College, PA; brother and sister-in-law Allan & Mary Brock, Hickman, NE; sister-in-law Kathy Liss, Lincoln, NE. Preceded in death, parents, brother, Daniel Stachura, brother-in law, Joe Liss, son-in-law, Bob Morand.
