ROELAND PARK, KS- Gyneth Ruth Sanders, 58, of Roeland Park, KS passed away Sunday, November 2, 2008 at Providence Medical Center in Kansas City. She was born October 28, 1950 in Lincoln, NE, the daughter of William and Lila Hageman Sanders. She graduated from Northeast High School in Lincoln in 1969. She received a biology degree from Nebraska Wesleyan University in Lincoln, NE. She received her nursing diploma from Bryan School of Nursing in Lincoln. She then earned her degree in nursing from the University of Nebraska in Lincoln and her masters in nursing from the University of Kansas.
Gyneth was a Registered Nurse and worked as an RN Instructor for Kansas City Kansas Community College for over 20 years. She was currently a member of the First Southern Baptist Church in Overland Park, KS.
She is survived by her father, Bill Sanders (Darlene) of Verona, MO; her sister, Dawn Halvorsen and nephew, Ben Halvorsen of Lincoln, NE; a brother, Dayton Leaf (Michele); a sister, Rhonda Bartels (James); her nieces, Lindsey Stuhr (Mitch), Lainie Leaf and Mindy Bartels all of Lincoln, NE; her special cousins, Ervin Sanders (Ann) and Phil Sanders (Wendy) all of Topeka, KS and Will Sanders (Carissa) of Salt Lake City, UT; many friends aunts and uncles. She was preceded in death by her mother, Lila Sanders, her grandparents and her brother-in-law, Randy Halvorsen.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 5, 2008 at the First Southern Baptist Church in Overland Park, KS. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 7, 2008 at the Capitol City Christian Church in Lincoln, NE. Interment will follow in the Fairview Cemetery in Lincoln. Memorials may be given to the First Southern Baptist Church of Overland Park, the Papillon Dog Rescue or to the donor’s choice c/o Mercer Funeral Home, Box 270, Holton, KS 66436.
