James Adolphus McMullan Sr.

James Adolphus McMullan Sr. was born to Adolphus and Helen McMullan on September 13, 1948 in Little Rock, AR. The McMullan’s are origins of Stoke Newington, England.

He was preceded in death by his wife Lillie Scroggins McMullan, his sister Rosemary McMullan-Hines, and his parents Adolphus and Helen McMullan. He was baptized in Wesley United Methodist Church as a young man.

James received his education from Horace Mann and Arkansas Baptist College. He went to join the United States Air Force serving in the Vietnam era. Thereafter, he returned to his hometown of Little Rock where he started McMullan’s Funeral Motorcade Service. James was the leading funeral escort service in Pulaski County for nearly 40 years. The service he often rendered to bereaved families and friends usually ended with a “shock and awe” as he performed a multitude of stunts to secure the safety of the funeral procession. James took a lot of pride in the preparation of preparing for funerals, and considered it nothing short of an honor.

He was employed at arrow Coach Lines in Little Rock, AR where his fellow employees embraced him as a member of their family rather than a regular employee.

James departed his earthly life on the 7th of July 2014 in Chicago Heights, IL.

Survivors are Tanya McMullan, James Jr. both of Little Rock and Veronica McMullan of England, Ark.

Praying for the family at this time.  Glad I had a chance to talk with him on the phone recently.

James you will be missed by family and friends. He was a knowledgeable person who I communicated with on facebook this past year. Weather and traffic reports in LR and Chicago were shared regularly. He was passionate about helping people and wanted to be back here in June but God knows best. Jack of all trades and a master of most , I will miss him.
