                                                Pearl Thrasher

                                    February 20, 1949 - March 17, 2017

Pearl Elaine Octavia Thrasher-Martin, Age 68 of Florissant, MO. Pearl was born in Little Rock, Arkansas to William and Willie Mae Thrasher on February 20, 1949. She went to Horace Mann High School and graduated in 1967.  She went on to earn her degree in Social Welfare at the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. She worked in the Hazelwood School district as a social worker for many years. Then she became a substitute teacher for the Hazelwood School district until she retired in 1992.

Thereafter she enjoyed making crafts, planning/coordinating weddings, family reunions, and working relentlessly in supporting her church families including the roles of Director of Christian Education at The First Missionary Baptist Church of Robertson and the First Lady of Solid Rock Missionary Baptist Church in Kinloch.

In 2006 she was an original founder of the Women on the Move. The creation of this organization was one of her greatest passions.  The organization supported Missouri communities by going to visit the sick and the shut-in in nursing homes and hospitals across the region.  The Women on the Move organized outings for members and distress families and had regular Bible Study.

Pearl is preceded in death by her parents William and Willie Mae Thrasher, and her grandparents Willie and Minerva Jones.
