                                      Obituary

Calvin Lee Walker departed this life at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Little Rock, Arkansas at the age of 67 on April 1, 2017.

He is survived by his daughter Sonya Y. Evans-Oates (Theodore Sr.), grandchildren, Theodore Jr., Garrett, Titus and Soniya of Fayetteville Simpson (Mikey), Charlotte, North Carolina. Siblings, Marilyn Boswell (David), Shelia Simpson (Mikey). Charlotte , LaVaughn Palmer, William Palmer, Robert Palmer Sr. (Patricia), all of Little Rock, Arkansas, Jerlean Stallings of Denver Colorado, and Rasheed Saleem (Margaret) of Kansas City, Missouri.

He was born on October 7, 1949 in Little Rock, Arkansas to the late Jefferson D. Walker Sr. and the late Dora Stuart. He graduated from Horace Mann Senior High School in 1967 where he was very active in the Art Club, Student Council, Football Team, Track Team and Fire Marshall. After High School, Calvin enlisted in the United States Army.

Calvin traveled the world as an enlisted soldier for 20 years including tours in Vietnam, Korea, and Germany. He retired at the rank of Sergeant First Class. His military education included Drill Sergeant Course, NCO Leadership Refresher Course, CRS Manager Course, Journalist Course, Platoon Training Course, and Battalion Course. In the United States Army, Calvin was a Communication Maintainer, Combat Telecommunications Operator, and his favorite occupation of his military was Army Drill Sergeant. As a Drill Sergeant, he was able to develop the minds of young soldiers. Calvin received numerous military accolades, Marksman (Rifle), National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm, Parachutist Badge, Vietnam Parachutist, Drill Sergeants Identification Badge, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Army Commendation Medal, Good Conduct Medal, NCO Professional Ribbon, and Vietnam Service Medal.

He was active in the Veteran Foreign Wars Post 136.
