The fifth child of Mary Armstrong Gans and the late John D. Gans, was born June 29, 1949 in Little Rock, Arkansas.
He attended the Little Rock Public Schools and graduated for Horace Mann Senior High School, class of 1967. He was a member of the International Sheet Metal Workers, and a Vietnam Veteran with the U.S. Navy.
Robert confessed Christ at an early age and was a faithful member of Mount. Pleasant Baptist Church.
He married Joyce Hodge on November 29, 1982. To this union two children were born. He leaves to cherish his memories: a loving wife, Joyce Hodge Gans; a son, John David Gans and a daughter Joyce Nicole Gans; his mother, Mary Armstrong Gans; two brothers, John Thomas Gans of Chicago IL and Gary Charles Gans of Dallas TX; two sisters, Dovie Virginia Gans Young (Robert) and Mary Ann Gans Jackson of Little Rock AR; a mother-in-law, Mamie L. Posey of Los Angeles, A and a host of aunts, uncles, nephews,neices,cousins,brother and sister-in-laws, and friends.
