Wow! It is SO great to see everyone on here. I love this site and I am so thankful for everything Kimberly has done on it.

Kim, sorry I have been MIA...my computer went down, but thankfully it is back up and going so I am here to do whatever you need me to do. (Yes, I have the admin functions.)

I can't wait to catch up with everyone.

Kimberly Stackhouse (Pringle)

Hey Lisa,

I was wondering what happened to you because I haven't heard back from you. I am glad everything is ok and it was just the computer being down.

I am glad your admin functions are working for ya! I can't really think of anything at the moment. I'm trying to come up with some other new idea's for the site. I thought about a "transformation" page. Which would be the before pictures and now pictures. However, that would require time and a yearbook. It would also require participation from all the classmates and not everyone has a scanner.

I also thought about doing some fun surveys also. If you come up with any idea's let me know and thanks for wanting to help! :)

Are any of our Lions going to be in the path of Hurricane Ike?

09/12/08 11:13 AM #57

Leigh Smith (Polanski)

I'm sure not, thank goodness....we have had our share of hurricane weather in Louisiana! However, we are taking evacuees here in Shreveport! All the hotels are full. Lots of strangers in our town!

Kimberly:

I have had a lot of McClellan classmates that graduated from different years ask about this site. Do you know if we could set up a link on this site to connect to other years from McClellan?

Thanks and keep up the good work. I've been doing my best to spread the word.

Hey Tina!

As far as setting up a link to connect to other classmate years, they would have to setup their own class website like I did ours or become a guest member. You might want to tell them to do it soon if they want one. I read this morning where classcreators is growing by leaps and bounds and in the next year or two, they may have to start charging for the use of their server. However, they said that everyone that has joined before that happens will not be effected and won't have to pay any fees.

I can create a link on here to connect to their class websites once their site is established. If anyone from the class of 1986 wanted to visit their site, we would have to be listed as a guest member and vice versa if they wanted to come to our site and participate in the forum.

This website is not designed like classmates where it has a forum for everyone from different years to join. That would be totally cool if it was, but it's not. It's more of a personal website for just our class. However, like I mentioned, they can join the site as a guest member if the class of 1986 doesn't mind seeing a lot of other unfamiliar names under the classmate profiles.

I can set it up where the guest members don't have a profile, but have access to other features on the site such as the forum and chat room or I can set it up where each guest member does have a profile and still have access to other features.

Now, I can do a poll on our website and ask other members their opinions on whether they want to keep it just for the class of 86 or if they would like to include guest members also. The responses will show up in a pie chart. That way, noone knows their response.

Now, with that being said if we include guest members, their opinions will also be included in any future surveys and polls. Where they live will also show up on the "Where they live" module instead of just being where the class of 86 lives. At this time, there is no way to separate classmates and guests on those.

One other thing that I wanted to bring up is the chat room. I don't know if anyone has tried it out yet, but I believe it will only allow up to 10 people at a time. That's why it's free. I know there is some other chatroom programs out there, but I just haven't had time to check out all the free ones. I know I downloaded one that would allow around like 20 people, but when I uploaded it to the site, there was a bunch of people in there chatting and they were talking about things that skeeeeered me! So, I deleted it all together and went with the one I have on the chat room link now. Atleast it's safe from the cyberworld freaks! If I know it's being used more and more people are wanting to join in on "live" chat, I will look for something that will allow more users.

I know classcreators is talking about adding a big chat room in the future, but I do believe they are going to charge an annual fee for each class website that wants that feature.

Hey Tracy!

I am glad you made it here. :) So far, everything seems to be going well. Someone seems to be signing up everyday or atleast every other day. There are 48 of us on here now, so that's great!

What restaurant do you and your hubby own if you don't mind me asking?

Tina,

One other thing that I forgot to mention is that there is talk about a multi-class feature that classcreators are working on, but it won't be available until next year sometime.

Kimberly Stackhouse (Pringle)

Okay ladies! Let's try to figure out a weekend.

We have two big races on Oct 3rd and 4th and then we will be at the track on the 22nd and short track nationals 23rd thru the 25th. So, there is no way I could come on those dates.

If we could come up with a time where our racing schedule wouldn't be a conflict I would love to come too. However, if any of those dates are more convienient for the rest of the group, by all means, you guys go for it and drink one for me!! ;) I will TOTALLY understand!

Kim Jewell, I am glad to hear that your husband's grandmother's surgery went well!!

I hope you all have a great weekend!

I could probably do something the wkend of the 18th. It would be awesome to get away, even for a few hours.

Leigh, I turned 40 in July, but I don't feel that old w/a 3 year old.
