Joseph "Kim" Apel, 66, of Punta Gorda, FL, was born on
Nov 1, 1952 and died on Oct 23, 2019. Kim was a member
of the 1970 class of North Little Rock High School,
North Little Rock, Arkansas. Kim and his wife Janice
were married in 1978. Kim served the CalState Fullerton
campus community for 15 years as the facilities planner
from April 2001 and continued to serve as manager of
physical and capital planner until May 2016. Sometime
after, Kim and Janice retired and moved to Punta Gorda
FL. Kim was more recently diagnosed, and lost his battle, with cancer.

I suspect that 51 years later we are all commenting that we wished we had kept up with someone. Kim and I had several classes together, and one summer worked as lifeguards together at a neighborhood swimming pool. He had the most wonderful sense of humor. But, he was also quite intelligent, and headed to a fantastic career after college. I know that we got together the first Christmas after high school graduation, and I am pretty sure we did again a few years later. I was headed to law school. We discussed the past and the future, and I am certain I made a mental note to stay in touch. What a wonderful person!
