I used to sit across from her in Mr. Pollock's woodshop class in the seventh grade. A week after she died Mr. Pollock continued to call her name for roll call, thinking it was funny. I became very angry one day & told him I didn't appreciate it & she was a friend of mine before she died & I didn't think it was funny. I got a paddling from him for standing up & telling him that. I had gotten her number the day she died & had tried to call her that night. She was always so nice.
We were in Mrs. Hope's Science class together in 7th grade. I never saw her without a smile on her face. My dad was a volunteer firemen with the Arch Street Fire Department at that time and went to that call.

I remember Nkenge. I had choir with her in 7th grade. In fact, I was in choir when I found out about her passing. She was a very sweet girl.Neal Harwell
Nkenge was a very sweet girl. She was extremely smart.... I remember she helped me in out in English class.Sadly, Nkenge died in a house fire when we were in the 7th or 8th grade (1984). Very sad.
