Joe Binz

Joseph Edward Binz, Jr , 73, passed away Sunday, February 16 at his home in Jacksonville, AR.  He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph Edward Binz, Sr and Eva Shankle Binz; and his brother Ernest (Ernie) Stephen Binz. 

 

He is survived by his daughters Lori Binz Switzer and Kristin Michelle Binz; grandchildren Stephen Bredensteiner, Josephine Switzer, Ella Switzer, Bryleigh Switzer and Carson Bredensteiner; his sister Sylvia Hart (George); brothers Jim (Kelly) Binz and Rick (Connie) Binz; a host of nieces and nephews; extended family Diane Carroll, Alex Carroll and Olen (Gramps) Taylor and many friends who lovingly referred to him as Papa Joe.

 

Joe was born August 14, 1946 in Little Rock, AR.  He was a graduate of the University of Arkansas at Little Rock where he was a member and past president of the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity; he was honorably discharged from the Arkansas Army National Guard; and owner and president of Industrial Sales until he retired in 2017.

 

Joe loved spending time at Lake Hamilton where his family built a cabin that was the site for many family and friends to gather for barbecue and water sports every summer throughout the years.  In his retirement he enjoyed taking his daughters and grandchildren fishing.

 

Services will be 1:00 PM Tuesday, February 25 at Trinity United Methodist Church, 1101 N Mississippi with the Reverend Roy Smith officiating assisted by Austin Binz.  In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Arkansas Diabetes Association.

Chip Akin

I remember growing up with Joe In Cammack Village and going to Holy Soul & liking the same girl (Mary Michael Finley)! He was a great friend. Chip Akin
