Wayne Campbell

Obituary

Surrounded by his family, Wayne Alan Campbell went to be with our Father in Heaven December 1, 2020. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Julia Campbell, and his brother Paul Campbell. He will be missed by his daughter, Amy, grandchildren, Ashley and Ryan, brothers, James and Glen, sisters, Nancy, Joan, and Linda, as well as many in-laws, nieces, and nephews.

Wayne was a Navy Veteran of the Vietnam War and an electrician on the SS Tutuila. Later, he had a 40-year career in the heating and air business. He was a hard worker at both Carrier and Trane.  He loved to help trouble shoot problem systems and teaching classes for new technicians. He was a people person. He enjoyed helping people whenever he could…even if it would cause him a hardship. He was very generous with his time and money. He had a knack for home improvement projects. It was not uncommon for him to grab his bag of tools and fix a leaky roof, hot water heater or HVAC systems in the heat of the Summer.  But nothing would pull him away from his beloved Razorbacks. They were his favorite team, winning or losing.

A favorite past time was to talk for hours about any life experiences that came to mind. His grandson, Ryan, probably enjoyed his stories most over lunch at their favorite burger joint. A favorite story to tell was about the time Ashley was about 4 years old and asked him if she could have his house when she grew up. He adored his grandchildren deeper than they can imagine. He loved being their Papaw and spoiling them rotten.

Amy remembers him as a good provider for his family and a great Dad. He taught her many life skills like the value of money, saving and hard work. He also passed on a lot of those home improvement skills that she enjoys doing, too. When she needed encouragement, he was there. When she needed advice, he was there. He was always ready with a tight hug and comforting words. He was also there to celebrate all the joys that life brings, too. Some of her favorite memories were the family day trips to Petit Jean Mt for a picnic and a hike.

He will be greatly missed by many. But we can find peace, joy, and comfort in knowing he was a believer, and we will see him again in Heaven.
