Joan Gazo (Kendall)

Joan Frances Kendall Joan Frances (Gazo) Kendall, 73, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 23, 2020 in her home in Edmond, OK.  She was born January 26, 1947 in Little Rock, AR to Joseph John Gazo and Anna Mae Gazo. 

She was a graduate of Mount Saint Mary’s High School (AR) in 1965. She then graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University with a bachelor’s degree in occupational therapy. She married Stephen Kendall in 1975 at St. Edward’s Church in Little Rock.  She worked as an occupational therapist until she had her son, Joseph John Kendall in 1982. She worked at St Mary’s school cafeteria during her son’s tenure then decided to pursue a career at Edmond Public Library until she retired in 2017. 

 Joan was very involved at Lakeview Baptist Church in Sunday school activities, Vacation Bible School and helping in the kitchen with fellowship dinners, at Camp Joy, and at the Simple Life Center teaching crochet. 

 Joan was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, caring for her husband until her death.  She was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.  

She is survived by her husband, Stephen; son, Joseph (Alyson); granddaughter, Katarina; sisters, Anna Mae Gazo, Stephanie Breckinridge (Charlie); brothers-in-law, John Kendall, George Kendall; niece, Carly Hood; and nephews, Ethan Breckinridge, William John Kendall, and David Kendall.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, February 28, 2020 at Lakeview Baptist Church in Guthrie. Interment will follow at Cooper Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home.
