Janet and I worked together one summer at the Arkansas School for the Blind. About 3 weeks in, we decided it would be so funny if we feigned injury to get out of the little bit of work we actually had to do. The next day, we spent a lot of time putting on bandages and even wrist splints and applying makeup to look like bruises and scratches so we could pretend we had been in a car accident. We got all of the expected sympathy and light duty that day, and we laughed all the way home from work. We had a miraculous recovery the following day and owned up to our prank. Our supervisor had known all along but let us continue our little ruse because we were so deep into character! We had fooled no one but ourselves. We had a lot of fun that summer.
