Finley died from appendecitis in October 1996. He had been married twice but didn't have any children. He was a commercial draftsman and designed and sold commercial kitchens and equpment to restaurants, country clubs, and state prisons. Finley was quite the talented musician (guitar and vocals) with a wonderful sense of humor. Around 1970 he and Jim Schay formed the band "Two Easy Pieces" (A knockoff of the Jack Nicholson film "Five Easy Pieces".) If I recall correctly they played at the first Riverfest. There used to be a restaurant named "Counselors" on Cantrell near Mississippi with a downstairs beer garden. Back in 70-75 they played there Fri and Sat nites.  For twenty years "Two Easy Pieces" played music all over the state with Finleys last solo gig being at AlleyOops  in LR. I have no musical talent whatsoever so I always appreciated those who did. I must have heard Finley and Schay sing "The Weight" and "Bringing Ole Dixie Down" about a hundred times. Jim Finley was a great guy and lived a full but all too short life. (Zak).

Zak, thank you for your touching tribute to Jim Finley and for jogging my memory about Two Easy Pieces. Greg and I heard them play many times. They were so good! Was Counselor's called Cotton's at one time?

God bless you, Jim, and thank you for the music.
