I am so blown away that Karen is gone.  I  haven't talked to her for 35 years,  but when I was a freshman in highschool, we were good friends.  I know I wanted to be like her then, and I remember spending the night at her parents house.  We snuck (sp?) out of her house and walked downtown in Livermore in the middle of the night.  It was so scary and exciting, and I thought she was so cool.  We didn't do anything wrong, and I know I liked her parents but I can't remember them.  If they are still around,  I wish I could tell them how much I loved Karen back then.  I don't know how she died, but I do know, that she was so special, and she affected my life back in the 70"s, and I wish I could tell her parents that.

Karen was my next door neighbor for many years, but moved across town a few years ago.  She has a son Brice and her husband was Paul.  She was a very good and generous person and I too was shocked when she died.  She was so full of life.  As I understand, she died of Breast Cancer if that matters.

I was really upset to see that Karen is no longer with us, she is one of those friends that I would have loved to see again.  She was a unique and special person and I have great memories of hanging out with her.  I also remember her parents were special people.

She will be missed.

We grew up together during the time the family lived with her grandmother actross the street from me. I was there for them when the garage fire almost got her brother. Karen and her sister Kelly were alot of fun.

Karen was really nice and I am sorry to hear of her passing. I became good friends with her sister Kelly in the early 90's and we visited Karen and had dinner with her.

I knew she was battling cancer recently. I'm so sorry to hear about it. She'll be missed.

As I scroll through our classes memorium page I am reminded of our tenious and precious life is. We are young and carefree for a short period of time; the pages of time continue to turn and those left behind must live on. I am so sorry to see the passing of Karen Barrett and so many of our 1976 classmates.

Karen will always be a fond memory of my days in high school. She was one of those rare friends that one bonded to because of the specific content class one was enrolled in. We were both in English together in our Jr. year and had a male English Teacher (memory has gone with teacher's names...) and he was very anti-establishment in his teaching style. We had low tables and pillows for our desks, everyone removed their shoes upon entering the classroom and we had some very philosophical discussions over our literature selections. Karen impressed me with her intellect and kindness, she was a very beautiful young lady with light brown hair and summer highlights in her medium length hair. We use to discuss how exciting our years in college were going to be, if we could just get through our college prep classes!

I was touched by her geniune sincerity, humor and maturity for a junior. We lost touch after graduation, but she was someone I had hoped to see again. Forever in our hearts and thoughts of love as you lay in peace Karen.
