Jonathan "Jon" Muscalo
September 4, 1947 - September 24, 2024
Jonathan "Jon" Muscalo of Moore, South Carolina passed away on September 24, 2024 at the age of 77. Born on September 4, 1947 in Lockport, New York to the late Florence Licata and Bruno Muscalo, he graduated from Lockport Senior High School in 1966.
Jon is survived by his beloved brother, David (Andrea) Muscalo, and his special golden retriever, Maud'Dib, with Jon regularly saying "he's not my dog, I'm his human." A member of the Church at the Mill, he was saved and baptized in 2019.
Jon spoke fondly of growing up in Lockport with a Mom who was the greatest of all Italian cooks and a Father whose work ethic, he tried to emulate. He would often tell the story about his childhood dog, Cookie, following him to school and waiting there all day to walk home together.
Jon worked in Alabama where he also attended the University of Alabama at Birmingham. His professional career spanned over 50 years taking him to Spartanburg in 1989 to work with Volume Services America, later with Centerplate and, eventually, with Legends Hospitality Management.
His work involved the planning, design and construction of facilities inside stadiums, arenas and concert venues across the country including Yankee Stadium, Dallas Cowboys' AT&T Stadium and One World Trade Center.
Jon was known for his pursuit of perfection, attention to detail and appreciation of a job well done. Among his peers, he was considered to be the best in the industry.
Jon enjoyed collecting sports memorabilia, dining out with friends, talking baseball history and cars and reminiscing about old times and old friends. He was most at peace, though, sitting on his deck with Maud'Dib looking out over his beautiful yard and pond.
Thanks to all those who cared for Jon in his last few years especially the LVAD Clinic, its staff and doctors as well as Sally O'Shields, Kevin Austin, Kit Edwards, Kathy and Ray Hathcock.
Jon was laid to rest on October 11, 2024 in Lockport beside his parents. There was a celebration of his life on Thursday, November 14, 2024 at Church at the Mill, 4455 Anderson Mill Road, Moore, South Carolina 29369.
Jon generously donated to many charities including The American Heart Association and Spartanburg Humane Society. Donations to one of these charitable organizations would be welcome.
Rest in peace Jon. You were loved, respected and will be missed by all who knew you.https://www.jmdunbar.com/obituaries/jonathan-muscalo?fbclid=IwY2xjawQtVUhleHRuA2FlbQIxMQBzcnRjBmFwcF9pZBAyMjIwMzkxNzg4MjAwODkyAAEeiamYJaT-NeqtkDi3wx0R
