He was a great friend of mine...I met him playing football. he was tough as nails and never afraid of the guys who were bigger than he was. I'll always remember him wearing Birkenstock sandals and socks with his blue jeans. An All American kid who left us way too soon. I'll always remember him.

Winter was always sincere and genuine and I always appreciated his laid back demeanor. I too met him through baseball. All I can say is that I enjoyed our brief time. Rest in peace. We haven't forgotten you.
