Leaunda Schaeffer (Hemphill)

I was close friends with Kristy since the first day of 7th grade when we became locker buddies.  She was kind, smart, and practical. Her family welcomed me into their home and opened doors for me that I had never considered.  Following her family to Missouri 40 years ago, I met my wonderful husband and started college.  Kristy went to art school in California, becoming an even more skilled artist.  Over the years, we remained close and I had the opportunity to see her find her niche in the art world.

As I look over the sketches she drew of us in junior high and the prints of her professional art work, I have to smile.  I know why the little boy is posed just so in her cowboy painting.  I know why the white curtain blows a certain way in her paintings.  I can still see her working in her art studio, making aure that every stroke was perfect.

This is for you, Kristy!

FRIENDS FOREVER!

Your best friend, Leaunda
