Larry D. Riley of Lompoc passed away Tuesday, March 20, 2007 at his home surrounded by his family. He was 55 years of age.
Larry was born September 27, 1951 to Robert and Patsy Riley in Burtonwood, England. His family returned to the United States when he was 18 months old. As the son of an Air Force serviceman he was raised and educated in various places including New Mexico, Kentucky and Louisiana. He came to Lompoc in 1963 and graduated from Lompoc High School with the class of 1969.
Larry’s career in construction included jobs with Lompoc Lumber and Classic Doors and Windows in Santa Barbara. He was a floor supervisor in the poker room at the Chumash Casino in Santa Ynez for the last 12 years.
Larry was an avid sports fan. He loved golf, poker, woodworking, spending time with his grandchildren, and telling a good joke.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy Riley of Lompoc; father, Robert Riley of Mayfield, Kentucky; sons, David Riley of Lompoc, and Aaron Leighow of Clearfield, Pennsylvania; daughter and son-in-law, Janie and Brian McClain of Lompoc; daughter, Lesley Davis of Lompoc; brothers, Danny Riley, Ronny Riley, and Timmy Riley all of Mayfield, Kentucky, and Garry Riley of Lompoc; four grandchildren, Kaylee Davis, Slater and Dylan McClain, and Benjamin Leighow. He was preceded in death by his mother Patsy Riley in 2005.
The visitation will be on Thursday, March 22 from 4 to 7 p.m. and funeral service on Friday, March 23 at 1 pm in the chapel of the Starbuck-Lind Mortuary. Pastor John Reil of Peace Lutheran Church will officiate. Memorial donations may be made to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, 4222 Market Street, Suite D, Ventura, CA 93003 or a favorite charity.
