My locker was near Deanna's locker, upstairs, by the girls Gym - can't remember who my locker partner was then, anyway, Deanna was talking to me one day about God - and invited me to go with her to her church. I never went but I also never forgot her kindness towards me. Sometimes my mind wanders back to that episode, and of course she's been gone all this time - we must have been sophomores - can't remember the details of her passing - how, what or when - didn't go to her funeral - but I wish I could talk to her... Looking forward to seeing her one day. Still miss you Deanna...
I was on the school newspaper staff with Deanna. She sometimes would sneak out of her house and go cruising with me.
She was riding with another classmate to take the paper to the printer when they had an accident. It was December 17th or 19th, so the roads were icey. The next day at school, the fundraiser of delivering candy canes was held, and Deanna had ordered one for me. I still have that candy cane with the message in my little cedar box.
