Many of us will remember Jimmy as a fun-loving, congenial friend of us all in the Class of '65. He has been greatly missed by those who knew him! If you happen to be passing through Washington D.C., you should take time to go by the Vietnam Veterans Memorial. His name is engraved on the Memorial Wall at Panel 54E, Line Number 012. Thank you, Jimmy, for your service to our great country, and may you rest in Eternal Peace!
Under my section of Older Photos I just posted a Longview Morning Journal Memorial Day 1968 section of the paper dedicated to those in service who gave their lives in Vietnam. Jimmy is noted with his picture. Addie Vaughan Druepple
Jimmy was Glen’s best man at our wedding and a very good friend since childhood...he was killed not long after that. My dad and his dad were good friends who worked together for many years with and for RG LeTourneau after WWll.
I moved to Longview from Fort Worth to start the ninth grade at Foster Jr. High. I attended eight years of Catholic School with the same dozen or so kids, where the girls all wanted to be Nuns and the guys wanted to be Priests! On the first day of school at Foster, my folks dropped me off and as I closed the car door I heard this awesome sound and turned to see Jimmy driving up on his Indian bike with Jerry on the back. The rumble was coming from his exhaust and my goose bumps were from the fact that this was really happening! I can close my eyes now and hear Jimmy and Jerry's laughter filling a room. This is how I started my four years of Public School in Longview, which I call my "awakening" and is why Jimmy stands out, and why you all mean so much to me and that's a good thing.
