Obituary:

A memorial service for Kimberly Triece Scherrer, 36, of Longview, Texas will be held at 10:30 AM, December 23, 2013 at First United Methodist Church, Longview with Dr. Roy James officiating. She departed this world on December 19, 2013 after a three year battle with breast cancer.

Kim was born on March 18, 1977 in Sikeston, Missouri to Steve and Christy Triece. The family moved to Texas shortly after her birth and to Longview in 1985 and she graduated from Longview High School in 1995. She then attended Centenary College where she pledged Chi Omega Fraternity and graduated magna cum laude in 1999 with a bachelor's degree in business.

Following graduation, she worked at Praeses Corporation in Shreveport, Louisiana for seven years, leaving to pursue what she felt was her true calling of being a full-time mother and wife. Completely devoted to her family and friends, she most enjoyed going to the movies or the park with her family, cooking with her husband, Sunday night dinners at her parents' home, early morning "coffee hours," playing cards, girls' weekends with her Centenary friends, and family vacations.

Kind, caring, patient, loving, and generous, she was a valued friend, and a beloved daughter, sister, wife, and mother. She commented that her faith sustained her, and she lived out this strong faith at First United Methodist Church, Longview. Kim also had a passion for reading and a deep love of nature. Her beautiful, infectious smile and gentle spirit will be missed by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Ryan Phoenix, her fathers-in-law, Robert Phoenix and John Jacob Scherrer, III, and her grandparents, Betty and Larry Jernigan, and Mary Ellen and Gene Triece.

She is survived by her husband, Jake Scherrer, her three children, Anna, 7, Jack, 6, and Olivia, 3; her parents, Steve and Christy Triece; her sister and brother-in-law, Becky and Brandon Holden, all of Longview; mothers-in-law Martha Luttringer and husband Larry, and Sue Phoenix; sisters-in-law, Pam Scherrer, Amanda Morris and husband, Matt, and Jennifer Massey and her husband Dane; brothers-in-law Chuck Scherrer and wife Mae Cobb, and Andrew Phoenix and wife Kate; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, and a niece.

A special thanks goes to nurses Aleshia and Stacey of HeartsWay Hospice, and to the countless souls who generously supported the family with prayers, cards, meals and gifts.

Visitation for family and friends will be held at the Welch Funeral Home from 2-4 PM on Sunday, December 23, 2013.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to First United Methodist Church, 400 North Fredonia, Longview, Texas 75601; Longview Ballet Theatre, 1116 North Third Street, Longview, Texas, 75601, or Centenary College Scholarship Fund, 2911 Centenary Boulevard, Shreveport, Louisiana, 71104.
