I never thought I would be making a yearbook update for my best friend.
Mark Brittelle left us on July 11, 1995 in a tragic motorcycle accident in Farmington, NM. He was working on a construction job with fellow classmate and good friend Barry Kiess at the time of his death. Mark had a huge sense of adventure and he liked to live life on the edge. There were a lot of wild, crazy things that we did in high school and a lot of times Mark was the pioneer of these events. It’s funny though, that is not what I remember the most about him. He was truly a great friend, he had a big heart, he was a hell of a worker, and his family and friends were #1 priority with him. I know if he was alive today and I needed his help, he would be there. That’s the kind of guy he was.
As we celebrate the past ten years of our lives and what we’ve accomplished, I hope we also recognize that life is fragile. Don’t take your blessings for granted. Our high school experiences mean a lot and our high school friends mean even more. Take a moment to remember the laughs and good times you shared with all of our fellow classmates. And I bet Mark would appreciate a toast with a cold Coors beer!
