In Memory

Jane Romero (Atkinson) - Class Of 1962

Jane Romero (Atkinson)

Jane Atkinson (née Romero), 78, was born June 10, 1943 in Las Vegas, NM and was taken from us suddenly but peacefully Sept. 28, 2021 in Los Alamos.

Jane was a devoted mom, grandma, great-grandma, sister, aunt and friend. The time she took to watch and hang out with her grandchildren will live in their hearts forever. She did her best to never miss a game or school program and shared her love of reading with them. She was an amazing baker and gardener; her zucchini bread and potato cakes would have won awards.

Mom worked several jobs throughout her life, but none were as rewarding as the time she spent driving the bus for Los Alamos Public Schools for over 20 years. She made it a point to know every single child on her bus. To list all the fun and adventurous things she did growing up, accomplishments throughout her life and little adventures she did or tried could fill a few books. She has left behind many broken hearts that are filled with beautiful memories of an amazing woman.

Jane is preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Dora Romero; husband, Bill Atkinson; beloved son, James Harrison; sister, Nancy Gilcrease; nephew, Joey Romero and many others.

She is survived by her children – John Harrison and Christine Moore. Grandchildren – Will Toyama, Joseph Harrison, Mariah Harrison, Kyle Moore, Melissa Harrison, Shelby Moore, and Joshua Harrison. Great grandchildren – Westyn Moore, Ana May and Elena Harrison. Siblings – Angie Charlton and Joe Romero as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and numerous friends.

There will be no services at this time and a memorial will be planned at a later date.
