Services were conducted Friday at the Whitehurst Funeral Chapel in Los Banos for Donald Hansen, who died Feb. 2. He was 57.
Burial was at Los Banos District Cemetary.
Mr. Hansen was born Oct. 23, 1936 in Santa Maria and moved to Los Banos that same year. He attended Los Banos Schools and graduated from Los Banos High School. He attended Modesto Junior College for two years. 
Mr. Hansen was an outstanding athlete in high school and college where he set several records in track and football. He worked for PG&E as a transmission mechanic for 28 years. He enjoyed hunting, racing cars at Merced Speedway riding in rodeo’s and judging rodeo competitions. He was a member of Hanser Deer Club and the B.P.O.E of Merced. 

Mr. Hansen is survived by his mother, Mary Elizabeth Hansen; his wife Neva Hansen of Los Banos; two sons, Curtis Hanser of Napa and Billy Hansen of Los Banos; a daughter, Donna Baciocco of Los Banos; a stepson, Shelby Medeiros of Merced; a stepdaughter, Carrie Brightman of Merced; two sisters Betty DeChambeau of Merced and Barbara Longsteath of Modesto and 10 grandchildren.

Neil Zinn

Number 45 on the football team.  Always had a smile and was friendly.  He was an exceptional athlete, and put his heart into sports.  In the rodeo game, managed to suffer injury and keep on going.  Don was one of the fuys you looked up to.
