Charles Michael Miranda, 77, of Gustine passed away Oct. 20 at home, surrounded by his loving family.
Mr. Miranda was born June 4, 1938, in Los Banos to John and Pauline Miranda.
Mr. Miranda enjoyed a passion for life, particularly his work, boat racing, hot rods and above all else his family.
He was a self-employed ground rig sprayer for more than 50 years, and served his customers with enthusiasm and dedication.
Mr. Miranda, known in boat racing circles as “Carlie,” raced drag boats for more than 20 years. He and his blown gas hydroplane, “Daddy’s Toy,” were known nationwide. During his racing career, he held world records and was high-point champion multiple years. Moreover, Mr. Miranda made lifelong friends with whom he kept in touch up until his death.
Mr. Miranda was a devoted family man above all else. He was the caretaker, mentor, confidante and most of all the strength of his family. Not only did he touch the lives of family, he knew no stranger.
He was the kindest, most loving and compassionate man one could imagine.
Mr. Miranda is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Mary Miranda of Gustine; a daughter, Carla Miranda Wyrick of Los Banos; a sister, Inez Baty of Los Banos; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Tony and Wanda Medeiros of Gustine; two grandchildren, Gina Wyrick and Michael Wyrick of Los Banos; and a great-grandson, Anthony Costa of Los Banos; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, William Miranda.
Services were held Monday October 26th under the direction of Whitehurst Funeral Chapels, Los Banos.
